The Great Lent is divided into seven weeks, each commencing with a significant event on Sunday. The Church has selected these Sunday readings specifically so that we might benefit on our journey through the fifty-five day period of fasting, giving us strength and reassurance when we need it most. Each week holds a significant event in the life of Christ from which we can extract meaning and apply a practical message to our own lives.
