Papers from a session held at the European Association of Archaeologists Fourth Annual Meeting in Göteborg 1998 Collection of eight papers which treat three different areas of study: Late Scythian cemeteries, Anglo-Saxon England and southern Scandinavia. Two main dimensions of society were studied: ethnicity and social status, both expressed through material culture and mortuary customs.
