Graphite oxide is one of the promising carbon based materials in the field of modern science and technology. Graphite oxide is the oxidised form of graphite which can be produced from graphite powder or flakes by using strong oxidising agent adoption solution chemistry approach. A number of oxygen containing functionalities such as carboxylic, phenolic, carbonyl and epoxide are present in graphite oxide structure. Due to the presence of the oxygen containing functionalities graphite oxide is hydrophilic in nature.
