The author is a retired college lecturer who has lived in East Shropshire for over 40 years. In 2014 he was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, robbing him of the use of his arms and legs. He is a keen historian, and feels privileged to live in an area which is rich in Roman and industrial archaeology.
