Notă biografică
Nina Holland has combined her natural artistic talents with her love for practical crafts in her careers as weaver and teacher. Born in Flushing, New York, she received her B.S. in Art Education from the University of Rochester. Mrs. Holland continued her education at the University of New Mexico at Albuquerque, where she received a master's degree in painting. Summer studies included courses at the Art Students League in New York and the University of Mexico.Mrs. Holland has taught both painting and craft courses in the public school systems of Arizona, New Mexico, Indiana, and New York, and in various universities as well. She currently teaches weaving in the Continuing Education division of the State University of New York (SUNY) at Plattsburgh.Her work has been exhibited at the Southern Tier Arts and Crafts show in Corning, New York, 1971; the North Country Community College Invitational, New York, 1971; and the New York State Craftsmen Exhibit at SUNY in Geneseo, New York, 1971. One- man shows of Mrs. Holland's work were seen at the Adirondack Center for the Arts, Blue Mountain Lake, New York, 1971, and at Delaware Community College, Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, 1973. An article about her work and lifestyle appeared in Adirondack Life magazine in the winter of 1971.Mrs. Holland is a member of the York State Craftsmen, the American Crafts Council, the Handweavers of America, and the Handweavers Guild of Vermont. She currently lives in Plattsburgh, New York, with her husband, painter Tom Holland, and their two daughters.
