Restless and striving, He isn't satisfied merely to fulfil an invitation to speak at "'the biggest and best ... event in the World'." Instead, He travels beyond the amateur radio convention in Dayton, Ohio, along the old ways into the west, making a journey of discovery and self-revelation. Together with His wife, He follows the trail to their old home in Laramie, Wyoming where, a generation before, back in the days of youth and hope and promise, the wheels had come off the wagon.
What they encounter on the trail changes Him; makes Him look afresh at sights He thought He knew; takes Him back to stand in front of the Looking Glass. With vision restored, He might just be able to see how to get the wagon rolling again.
