Volume 16.1 contains the final book version of the Abderites, one of the earliest serialized novels in German literature. When compared with the serial version of the novel, as presented in Volume 11.1, the book version provides a glimpse into the process of revision. Thus, for the first time, both the work in progress and the final result can be conveniently compared side by side, offering incomparable insight into Wieland’s working process.
