Geraldine is an energetic, spirited second-grader with a passion for inventing. When she observes a decline in the bee population, Geraldine decides to find a way to help. A field trip to the space museum and a challenging homework assignment prompt her to sort through her parents' old gadgets and gizmos to create an invention that may one day save the bees. Can she produce something truly remarkable; something that might help the environment and change the world?
• Enthusiasm and imagination go hand in hand as readers learn that science can be found everywhere, and you can be an inventor by simply using everyday objects.
• Back matter on pollination provides a nonfiction bonus to the inspirational story.
• Young readers will identify with Geraldine as a problem solver, a born leader, and someone they would like to have as a friend.

Geraldine and the Space Bees is the second book in the Geraldine series. In Space Bees, the book begins with Geraldine watering her mom’s flowers. She notices that there aren’t as many bees flying around the plants as usual. The next day at school, her teacher says that they are going on a field trip to the space museum; this is exciting to Geraldine! At the space museum, she learns about different things in space and has a homework assignment to create something to send into outer space. Back at home, she uses her imagination and makes something helpful that will hopefully help save the bees.I think I will like the books in the Geraldine series! She is close to my age and thinks up exciting things to do and make. I did not know much about bees, besides them being important for plants, before reading this book. I now know how important they are and will remember to not be scared of them. Space Bees is for any age of reader who likes colorful illustrations and a fun story. (Lydia - Age 6)
nbsp; This story is relevant to our day as well as entertaining. We all are becoming aware of the serious decline in our bee population. The connectivity of all living things trembles when even one delicate part starts to wane. The loss of bees will have a wide effect on what remains. Geraldine's energetic nature and love of invention soon sets her to work on a remedy to the bees' plight. A field trip to the museum and a challenging homework assignment sets her spirited mind into motion. This is an interesting, and inspiring story. (Ages 5-8)
nbsp;Geraldine and the Space Bees makes a great reading choice for science and STEM/STEAM classes, where learners can discuss how they can and would address the environmental factors leading to the decline in bee populations, and why this is such a serious matter.
