Dr. Chalantika Laha Salui is an accomplished researcher and academician specializing in geospatial technologies, disaster management, environmental assessment and spatial decision-making. She is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at Rani Birla Girls’ College, University of Calcutta. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Calcutta in 2016 with research focusing on the changing course of the River Ganga, damage assessment and risk zone management. With nearly two decades of experience in teaching, research and professional geospatial applications, Dr. Salui has worked with institutions such as the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Tripura University, Department of Science and Technology, Government of West Bengal and Forest Survey of India, Govt. of INDIA. She has published 17 researches including 4 SCOPUS indexed international journals and edited volumes on topics including disaster risk assessment, landslide susceptibility, river dynamics, environmental monitoring and GIS-based spatial modelling. A life member of six reputed national and international professional organizations, Dr. Salui has received numerous academic distinctions and research awards and contributed in 1 research project and 3 consultancy projects. Her work emphasizes the application of GIS, Remote Sensing, and Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) techniques for sustainable development, environmental management, and disaster resilience.
Dr. Pratima Sarkar is a dedicated researcher holding PhD degree from the Computer Science and Engineering Department of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, Sikkim Manipal University in 2025. She secured her M.Tech degree in Software Engineering under the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department from the West Bengal University of Technology. She began her academic career in 2012 as an Assistant Professor in the CSE Department at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, where she served for a decade before joining the CSE Department of Techno International New Town in 2022, where she is currently working as an Assistant Professor. She has been an active ACM member for the last three years and serves as a reviewer for Elsevier journals as well as multiple international conferences. Her research achievements include 2 SCI-indexed journal publications, 2 Scopus-indexed journal publications, and more than 20 international conference papers. In addition to her publications, she has contributed to innovation with more than 3 patents and has authored 2 book chapters. She continues to demonstrate strong academic excellence and professional commitment through her ongoing research, reviewing, teaching, and innovation activities. Her work emphasizes the Computer Vision, Agentic AI, Disaster Management and marine environment monitoring by using computer vision.
