Notă biografică
Joel Augustus (J. A.) Rogers (1880-1966) was a pioneering Jamaican-American author, journalist, and self-taught historian who dedicated his life to uncovering the buried history of people of African descent. Traveling the globe and conducting exhaustive research in international archives, Rogers spent decades combating racist, Eurocentric historical narratives. Through his columns in major Black newspapers and his independently published books, he brought the extraordinary, hidden achievements of Black historical figures to the masses, laying the vital groundwork for modern Africana and Black studies.
