Freedom from Force: Inside the United Nations and the Quest for Global Justice

Autor Nikolas Stürchler
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 29 iul 2027
In 1998, United Nations member states embarked on one of the most ambitious legislative projects since World War II: the creation of the International Criminal Court, designed to stand at the helm of a new global justice system that brings perpetrators of atrocity crimes tobook. But they left one offence - the 'supreme international crime' meant to enforce the UN Charter's ban on predatory war - unresolved: the crime of aggression. At a time when the need for international justice has never been so acute, Freedom from Force offers a candid, behind-the-scenes account of how global law is made - and unmade - at the UN, and of the difficulties to holding transgressors to account.
