Peter Flanagan was once New York's most brilliant trial attorney-until a drunk-driving accident killed his wife and daughter and destroyed his career. Now, a decade later, he's a recovering alcoholic grinding out a living at a Manhattan law firm, haunted by guilt and going through the motions of survival.
Everything changes when a disheveled homeless man walks into his office with an impossible claim-he's a human clone of the renowned scientist Dr. Nicodemus Daemonides, and he wants his estate back. Pete dismisses the story as delusion-until he starts digging into the evidence. Legal documents, DNA samples, and a mysterious government file called "R.A.D.I.C.A.L." suggest the impossible might be true.
But someone is willing to kill to keep this secret buried.
Teaming with Morgana O'Byrne, a brilliant younger attorney with her own secrets, Pete races against time to prove his client's identity before a 30-billion-dollar IPO makes the truth disappear forever. As bodies pile up and a conspiracy reaches from the streets of Manhattan to the highest levels of government, Pete must risk everything-his career, his newfound love, and his life-to give one man his day in court.
