Overcome by horror, guilt and fear in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, Detective Amanda Ross finds herself unable to return to the job. Things only get worse with the arrival of her 30th birthday, as her neighbor is killed in an explosion -- leaving Amanda severely hurt and the woman's young son without a mother.
