Jessie Scott has never wanted the life her mother planned for her.
Marriage, children, and dependence on a husband hold little appeal. The forests of the Michigan Territory offer something far more valuable: the freedom to make her own choices and build a life that belongs entirely to her.But freedom comes with risks. When a black bear leaves Jessie gravely injured and alone in the wilderness, survival depends on an Ojibwe healer named Mashkikwe. Forced to remain in her care while her body heals, Jessie finds herself with something she has spent years avoiding-time to consider the wounds that cannot be seen.Returning to the life she has chosen will be easy.Figuring out why she chose it may be much harder.Finding Herself is the story of Jessie Scott before Finding Each Other -and the choices that set her on the path toward true freedom.
