After a vaccine meant to protect against a biological weapon backfires and turns those who are inoculated into zombies, a young woman decides to begin a journal for future generations-if there are any. As she focuses on the task of survival, she begins to lose touch with humanity, but she isn't beyond saving. Unexpected love and friendships, colored by the horrors of living during the zombie apocalypse, slowly draw her back into the sun. The possibility of living, not just surviving, slowly becomes a reality. Still, the infected are out there, and no matter how safe it seems, fate can turn on her and the others in an instant.
