Faithful Presence

Autor Wesley Burks
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 27 apr 2027

A companion for the long road of dementia care

Those who care for a loved one with dementia often do so largely alone, watching the person they know grow more distant even while present. The disease is long, unglamorous, and socially invisible--and so is the caregiving experience. Caregivers live daily with sorrow that goes unspoken, exhaustion that is rarely admitted, and faith that is often at a loss for words.

Faithful Presence speaks directly into that silence. Grounded in Scripture, prayer, and hard-won experience, its seventy-five devotions offer a language of faith adequate to the hardest days. Its voice is steeped in the Book of Common Prayer tradition--precise, honest, unsentimental--giving the book a literary and theological depth absent from most caregiver devotionals. It does not traffic in easy comfort. It names the grief, the fatigue, the spiritual confusion, and trusts that Scripture and prayer can hold them.

Organized to follow the long arc of dementia caregiving--from a loved one's early disorientation through the middle years toward the final season--Faithful Presence is a steady companion for caregivers along all stages of the journey. What it offers is the relief of being recognized, words for prayer on the days when prayer feels impossible, the sense that this hard and hidden work is not without meaning, and the quiet assurance of not being alone.
