When her husband leaves for a new job in Chicago, Angie finds excuse after excuse to remain in San Jose with their children. Caught between her resistance to uprooting her family and her determination to be the wife and mother everyone expects, she begins to come undone. Angie loses track of her children, wanders the city after dark, forms an unlikely friendship with a homeless woman, and becomes invested in the life of a troubled man who is staying in her basement Airbnb. As the boundaries between her home life and the city blur, Angie grows increasingly attuned to the lives most people overlook-- the unhoused, the mentally ill, and those living on society's margins. Everything Shines with the Sun on It is a haunting portrait of a woman unraveling under the weight of expectation, finding both beauty and danger in the hidden rhythms of the city she cannot bear to leave.
