Escala Menor

Autor Mario Alonso
es Limba Spaniolă Paperback – 29 dec 2026
There is no greater risk than loving..., nor greater deception than believing we know how to do it. Escala menor presents a polyphony of voices conversing or monologuing about desire, fidelity, loneliness, and the need--as human as it is contradictory--to be recognized by others. Between biology and romanticism, this novel explores the nature of the bond of love. Is love a cultural construct, an evolutionary strategy, or a necessary, alluring fiction? Is sex the funeral of desire? How long does eternal love last? Why is love forever often fleeting? These pages paint a bittersweet portrait of romantic relationships, with a structure that contrasts the female and male perspectives. Here there are no heroes or villains, only vulnerable human beings confronting their own limitations: the routine that extinguishes passion, desire that does not always align, the temptation to flee, loneliness even when accompanied, or the difficulty of choosing when every choice involves sacrifice. This story captivates with its honesty and the precision with which it portrays what we often keep silent, as well as the complex emotions that surface in a couple's intimacy and their surroundings. A sensitive, ensemble-style story that challenges the reader with an awkward yet universal question: if love is, like music, a matter of harmony, what happens when we only know how to play in a minor key?
