Recenzii
Environmental engineering is a broad discipline concerned with applying scientific and engineering principles to the protection of human beings from adverse environmental factors, and conversely, protecting the environment from adverse human factors. The author's mission in this fifth edition is to compile as comprehensive a dictionary as possible on the subject. Spellman (emer., Old Dominion Univ.) provides entries on a range of topics, some of which are quite broad: engineering, energy, renewable energy, ecosystems, disease, industrial hygiene, biological hazards, ecosystems, weather and climate, hazard analysis, food technology, risk assessment and process safety management, emerging diseases, and environmental controls. All citations are concise and informative and are listed alphabetically. . . for libraries supporting programs in environmental engineering, geology, geography, agriculture, and environmental science, this volume makes a worthy addition.
