The question of energy has been on our minds for decades. Due to the climate catastrophe, it has now once again become the focus of interest and has recently received an unprecedented burning topicality due to the war in Ukraine. However, the historical and systematic depth of this human issue threatens to be forgotten. The present volume avoids the well-trodden paths of a purely conceptual history. Rather, he investigates the questions "What is and how do we measure energy?", "Energeia, God's effectiveness and reality" and "Energiewende" from the perspective of the humanities, natural sciences and engineering against the background of philosophy and theology. This makes it possible to uncover buried aspects and ramifications of thinking about energy beyond the superficial topicality of the day.
