Echo Studies

Echo Studies cracks the mirror of the Romantic "nature poem." Across five linked sequences, the book reflects language as it fragments under contemporary pressures - climate breakdown, extractive economies, settler colonialism - in the battered world we share. Studies in the painterly sense, sketches, trials, and variations, these poems mix casual notes and observation with scientific vocabulary to reconnoitre an unpeopled landscape of present and future echoes of human presence: drowned coastlines, corroded streams, abandoned factories, slate and copper and microplastics. As it explores this broken ecology of language, Echo Studies leaves us in the reverberating silence of a world capable of existing whether we do or not.
