The book is designed to aware community on preparedness and mitigation of earthquake. Generally earthquake caused two types of damages such as structural and non structural. Structural damage includes building collapse, regional subsidence, uplift of the land, landslide, fires and tsunamis. Whereas non structural includes the damage and casualties due to the movement of non-structural objects such as computer and television during the earthquake. To overcome the damages by structural and non structural, the text provide the guidelines and recommendations to create earthquake resistance buildings .The text is accompanied by diagrams, maps and charts to visually aid the reader's understanding of the subject. Therefore, it's an effort to aware society from different phases of earthquakes such as pre-disaster, during disaster and post disaster. The idea is to make the subject accessible to an intelligent reader who, however, has little prior grounding in the subject, even while serving as a reliable refresher for a reader having studied the subject.
