His story unfolds over the course of fifteen "movements," carrying him away from his ancestral home and across the oceans to England and America. He becomes engaged in the carefree lifestyle of a college student, building friendships, attending class, and generally enjoying the energy of youth. But when chaos explodes in his beloved homeland, he can only watch helplessly from thousands of miles away as violence rages across television screens. Torn between his loyalty to the land of his birth and his anticipation of the opportunities awaiting him, he struggles to find his way.
