Years after the events that first brought him face to face with Count Dracula, Professor Abraham Van Helsing returns to Transylvania.
The villages remain fearful, the mountains conceal old roads, and the shadow of Castle Dracula still lies across the land. Although the Count was believed destroyed, rumours have begun to spread of vanished travellers, disturbed graves and a presence moving through the forests after nightfall.
Van Helsing is burdened by memory and uncertain whether the evil he once confronted was ever truly defeated. Accompanied by those willing to follow him into the Carpathians, he retraces the path of the original horror and discovers that the past has not remained buried. As winter closes around them, the expedition becomes a struggle against superstition, isolation and an adversary that understands their fears. To survive, Van Helsing must confront not only the darkness waiting in Transylvania, but the possibility that his first victory was incomplete.
A Gothic retelling of Bram Stoker's enduring legend, Dracula returns to the haunted landscape of the original novel and reimagines Van Helsing's confrontation with the forces he believed he had destroyed.
