Ritmul este alert, capitolele sunt scurte, iar dialogul este încărcat de subînțelesuri. Observăm o evoluție clară față de debut, autorul stăpânind acum perfect echilibrul dintre suspansul sufocant și profunzimea psihologică a personajelor sale.
