Notă biografică

Tony Brenna is a British-born journalist and author whose lifelong passion for marine biology, angling, and the natural world has profoundly influenced his writing. Before moving to the United States as a correspondent for British and American publications, he served as Managing Editor of Creel, one of Britain's most progressive sports-fishing magazines, where he wrote extensively about conservation and the destruction of vital waterways.Later, as a correspondent covering diplomacy, politics, crime, and Hollywood, Tony traveled to the world's major cities-many built beside rivers and oceans now heavily polluted by industrial waste. He has witnessed the accelerating devastation of seas once believed too vast and powerful to destroy, now choked with plastic and billions of tons of man-made debris. He has seen how the alarming decline of marine mammals and the collapse of global fish stocks underscore the urgency of the environmental crisis now confronting humanity. In his latest novel, "Divine Fury: The Man Cursed to Be a Fish," he departs from his previous writing, driven by both his love of storytelling and a deep concern for the planet's future. "As a United Nations correspondent for the Daily Telegraph, I listened to endless debates about ocean pollution, seabed mining, overfishing, and global warming-yet meaningful action never followed," he says. "Countries remain dangerously dependent on fossil fuels and relentless industrial ocean extraction. This book was born from my frustration at that inaction-my small attempt, through fiction, to raise awareness before it is too late."Over the decades, his work has appeared in major British and American newspapers and magazines. He has also been published in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, and Japan and broadcast on the BBC World Service and CNN. Having resided in London, New York, and Los Angeles, Tony now lives beside the waters of his beloved Puget Sound in Washington state with his wife, writer Elena M. Rodriguez.
