Discovering Animals: English French Cree

Autor Neepin Auger
Paperback – sep 2020
Paperback introduction to animal vocabulary in English, French and Cree for children ages 3-5.

Neepin Auger's Discovering Animals pairs colourful illustrations with simple animal words in three languages, giving preschool children an accessible way to compare English, French and Cree vocabulary. The paperback format is intended for slightly older children who are beginning to recognize words and make connections between pictures and print.

The book places Indigenous-language learning alongside two widely used Canadian languages rather than treating Cree as an optional extra. Pronunciation support helps parents, caregivers and educators who may be encountering Cree vocabulary for the first time, while the illustrations provide clear visual cues for each concept.

This edition is suited to families, preschools, libraries, classrooms and Indigenous-language education. It combines early vocabulary development, visual learning and language visibility in a format designed for children ages 3-5 and can be used independently or alongside the board-book edition for younger readers.
