DISCOVER THE DEVOTIONS, PRAYERS, AND LITTLE-KNOWN TRADITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH SAINT IGNATIUS OF LOYOLA

Saint Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus, continues to inspire Christians through his complete surrender to the service of God, his zeal for souls, and his enduring influence upon Catholic spiritual life.

In Devotion to Saint Ignatius, Fr. Marin de Boylesve, S.J. (1813-1892) presents a rich treasury for those already devoted to the saint and for readers wishing to know him more intimately. At the heart of the collection is Fr. de Boylesve's "dramatic meditation," accompanied by prayers, novenas, and concise biographical accounts illuminating the life and spiritual legacy of Saint Ignatius.

The book also introduces readers to the Ten Sundays devotion in honour of the saint and to a traditional practice now unfamiliar to many Catholics: the Holy Water of Saint Ignatius.

Included is the history of this blessed water together with the traditional rite of blessing in both Latin and English. Historical accounts of favours and miracles attributed to its devout use reveal a fascinating aspect of Catholic devotional life associated with Saint Ignatius and the Society of Jesus.

This first English translation includes:

- Fr. Marin de Boylesve's dramatic meditation on Saint Ignatius

- Novenas and traditional prayers

- Short biographical accounts of the saint

- Information on the Ten Sundays devotion

- The history of the Holy Water of Saint Ignatius

- The traditional rite of blessing in Latin and English

- Historical accounts of miracles and favours attributed to the blessed water

- A biography of Fr. Marin de Boylesve

- Explanatory annotations

- Sacred illustrations

"O father of my soul, worthy of my deepest veneration..."

These words from the prayer of Saint Francis Xavier express the filial confidence with which generations of Catholics have approached Saint Ignatius.

Devotion to Saint Ignatius preserves a distinctive collection of Jesuit spiritual and devotional traditions, offering readers an accessible means of seeking the saint's intercession and drawing inspiration from his courageous service to the greater glory of God.
