Meet the Oblivion Brothers, Zip and Otto. Boyhood friends raised on television's hypnotic glow and intangible promises, they set off from the heartland, following its siren song to the source: Los Angeles. Now they work in the entertainment industry, producing what once dazzled their young eyes. But today's Hollywood has the accent firmly on the industry and not the entertainment. Glamour and glitz have turned to cubicles and fluorescent lights as the industry swells past any hope of quality control. But for Zip and Otto, inside the machine churning out anything to fill the technicolor veins of the viewing public, the sparkles fade from everything and are replaced by the smeared fingerprints of Man. That is, until Zip hears another song, this one poured from the lips of Irene Mathy, musician and awestruck visitor to Los Angeles. With the world suddenly dazzling again, Zip stumbles off after the twinkling lights. Otto, too, strikes out on his own, making a push for career success in the fields of nepotism and egoism of television production. But with the Brothers divided, will they be strong enough to handle a fate worse than oblivion?
Deuced is a story of relationships; the ones we have with each other, the ones we have with the world around us and the ones we have with ourselves. It's about the frustrating discrepancy between theory and practice, the awful toll Man pays for his self-awareness and how we all try to get by. And how, in the end, we're all deuced.
