Sir Gerard Fogg, knight in the Royal Guard of the kingdom of Algonwick, is in love with the King's only son, Prince Tristan Fysher. The two men carry on a secret, sexual affair, falling more in love every day. Then a visitor appears in the kingdom, calling himself Malcolm as he robs and murders travelers along the road to Algonwick. His actions tear apart Gerard and Tristan's sacred union and in a flash Malcolm is gone, vanished as if he never existed.
