Deep Dyslexia: Second Edition: Psychology Revivals

Editat de Max Coltheart, Karalyn Patterson, John C. Marshall
en Limba Engleză Hardback – mar 2027
Deep dyslexia – a variety of reading disorder that can result from brain injury in a previously literate adult – was the subject of more intensive individual case studies than any other syndrome in neurolinguistics and neuropsychology. Originally published in 1987, this book, now in its second edition, was acknowledged as the major work in the field at the time. It demonstrates that, when guided by an explicit theoretical framework, such case studies can result in both precise understanding of the patients’ deficits and striking insight into the nature of normal reading processes. This revised edition includes a new chapter, reviewing work done since the first edition appeared. Today it can be read in its historical context.

Recenzii

Reviews for the original edition:
‘Deep Dyslexia is a joy to read and will gladden the heart of any despondent neuropsychologist. It is a concentrated, informative, stimulating and thought-provoking book, which deserves the attention of cognitive and developmental psychologists, not merely those concerned with the study of acquired dyslexias in adults.’ – J. Graham Beaumont, Dyslexia Review
‘The care and ingenuity displayed in the analyses of the performances of the individual patients are exemplary, and the appendices of raw data invaluable.’ Andy Young, Bulletin of the British Psychological Society
‘Aan excellent source book for psychologists, linguists, speech therapists and neuroscientists interested in the language and its breakdown following brain damage.’ – D. Neary, Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry
