Deborah stood on the shoulders of the women who came before her.
From Eve, who first heard both the Lord's command and his promise of a Savior, to Rahab, who trusted that the Lord of Israel was the true God and staked her life on that confession, God had been shaping faith in the hearts of his daughters from the beginning. In a time when Israel wavered and fear pressed in, Deborah rose not as an isolated hero, but as part of that unfolding account of faith. As prophetess and judge, she spoke the word the Lord had given her and called others to follow with Spirit-worked confidence the God who goes ahead of his people.
