There are so many colorful characters among my ancestors that have compelling stories to tell that it is difficult to choose which of them to write about. I chose John Adam Deffebach because of the adventurous active life he lived and the dramatic yet tragic way he died at the hands of renegade Sioux Indians in Wyoming.
