A police procedural built on a corpse nobody can name, worked by a detective whose own life is coming apart around the case. American detective fiction of stubborn legwork, department politics and a marriage on the line.
The Only Facts: One Body. One Bullet. Blood Type O Positive.
There was no doubt the man was dead. A bullet through the head will do that. But who was dead? No identification, no known address, no Social Security record, and the fingerprint search came up empty. Detective Nate Burns of the Albuquerque Police Department knew two things: the man was dead, and his blood type was O positive, the most common in the country.
Nate's past is catching up with him too. His captain wants him fired. A friend is calling in a favor. A convict wants to make a deal. His wife is thinking about divorce. It's a good thing he's serving a suspension. He'll have plenty of time to work it all out. Unless the dead man's story finds him first.
Dead Men Walking is the second book in the Nate and Clare series, for readers who love John Doe mysteries, suspended-cop investigations and detectives with as much trouble at home as on the job. Perfect for fans of Michael Connelly, John Sandford and Tana French.
