D.I. Fraser Gilchrist, on temporary suspension from his job, has lost almost everything he ever cared about in the last few months. Someone is screwing with him but why? When he finds a young girl's body washed up on the beach, Fraser wonders whether a serial killer is at work, or if this young woman's murder is an indication of something even darker. As a number of events begin to converge, Fraser's left wondering, what connects his own misfortunes to the fate of the dead woman, a local children's home, and a suspicious road traffic fatality that happened more than six months before. When his friends are viciously attacked, Fraser gets sucked into an investigation involving some very powerful people, a move that could end his career, and might even cost him his life.
