Beata Halicka is Professor of Contemporary History at Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, and a leading scholar of wartime and postwar European history. Her research combines the study of individual life trajectories with broader social and cultural contexts. Her acclaimed books include Polish Wild West. Forced Migration and Cultural Appropriation in the Polish -German Borderlands, 1945–1948 (2020, German ed. 2013, Polish ed. 2015), recipient of the Identitas Award, and Borderlands Biography. Z. Anthony Kruszewski in Wartime Europe and Postwar America (2021, Polish ed. 2018, German ed. 2024). The latter reflects her internationally recognized expertise in transnational histories of Polish migrants
