He wanted a chance to explore a part of the Arctic, not to live adventurously, but things happened to Siegfried Bucher that were stranger and often more exciting and frightening than anything he could have imagined.

He sledded with an Inuk on the frozen off-shore, encountered dangerous ice conditions, had near-fatal confrontations with polar bears, and experienced severe storms, all of which contributed to his extensive knowledge of the Arctic. Dangerous Encounters is Bucher's story
