Jackie was born in China to an American father and Chinese mother who wasn't allowed to immigrate to the U.S. before World War II due to the Chinese Exclusion Act. His dad was an American soldier who fought in Europe during the Great War, sending money to his family until he died in 1944. During the war, Jackie came face to face with Japanese troops on many occasions, and had to use his nine lives to avoid capture or worse at the hands of brutal Japanese soldiers.
