Volume 6 covers the period when Cy Twombly's career in the international art scene reached a turning point. Major exhibitions of his works on paper were shown in New York, Rome, and Basel; he participated with a large cycle of drawings in the Venice Biennial; a first monograph of his drawings was published in Berlin. To withdraw from the hustle of fame he acquired a studio in Bassano in Teverina. This volume includes famous works such as Mars and the Artist, Bassano in Teverina, and drawings on the Greek gods such as Pan, Venus, and Apollo. In 1973 he created his acclaimed set of drawings 24 Short Pieces in Val Gardena, Italy.
