Donna Carroll is an ex-socialite who is trying to escape the limelight after a nasty, public divorce. Heading home to Mount Ares, North Carolina, she stays hidden away while her ego and pride recover. On her first public outing, she witnesses a strange attack on a waitress. The violence shakes Donna, but it's the arrival of Sheriff Bud Blackheart, her high school sweetheart, that convinces Donna to stop being a hermit. As she and Bud renew their relationship, Donna learns that Mount Ares has become overrun with strange violence and death. Can Donna figure out the cause of the madness?
