Courageous Heart
Autor Anne-Frans van Vlieten Limba Engleză Paperback – 15 sep 2026
In this raw and honest memoir, I share my experience with ESS, endometrial stromal sarcoma, a rare uterine cancer. I recount the challenges of diagnosis and the physical and emotional struggles that accompany such a life-altering journey. The uncertainty of treatment loomed large as I faced painful recovery after surgery and profound moments of grief.
Yet through it all, I collaborated with western and eastern doctors, healers, and spiritual guides, reclaiming my own strength and agency through movement, wellness, and deep listening to my body. Crisis deepened the bonds that mattered most, through open conversations with my husband, family, and friends.
Vulnerability became my strength. Each challenge, from diagnosis to surgery to the setbacks of fear, pain, and guilt, became a stepping stone toward a more authentic and empowered version of myself. I emerged not just as a cancer survivor, but as a woman who learned to claim her voice and step into a new chapter of womanhood, transformed by menopause, resilience, and the radical act of choosing myself.
Courageous Heart illuminates the truth that healing happens not just in our bodies, but in our courage to share our stories and lift each other up.

Notă biografică
Anne-Frans is an animal behaviorist, certified dog trainer, Healing Touch for Animals practitioner, and author of Animal Energy Therapy Project. With a background in psychology and health and wellness, she has dedicated her life to bridging Western and Eastern approaches to spirituality, healing, and everyday living-an integrative approach she brings to her work with animals across the United States, India, and Europe, and which proved invaluable during her own cancer journey. Having grown up in both the Netherlands and America, she lives in Northern California with her husband and four beloved animal companions. An avid athlete, she loves the outdoors, travels, runs Lil Bitty Nuts (a small cottage food business), and maintains close family and friend connections across continents. She continues to expand her writing from animal energy therapy to memoir to fiction, and is training to support women through menopause and midlife, bringing the same integrative, whole-person approach she's long brought to her work with animals.
