Peer support programs can provide a much-needed alternative in assisting officers that need help. These programs can identify a wide range of problem areas, such as depression, alcohol abuse, suicidal feelings and behavior, marital difficulties, and domestic violence. They can also identify critical incident stress, post-shooting trauma, and posttraumatic stress. This book may be used as a text for a peer support training program.
