The book is an in-depth, readable look at life on a destroyer, with details of daily routines and intense action, including encounters with the enemy on land, sea, and air; damage control, navigation, rescue, submarine attacks, gunnery, meals, and other aspects of the life of the officers and enlisted crew while aboard the "Grayson."
