Harold E. Kohn was a pastor, counselor, naturalist, artist, and poet who spent a lifetime observing both the beauty of creation and the struggles people carry. A lifelong student of the natural world, he delighted in noticing the details others might overlook-from birds and wildlife to plants, weather, and the changing seasons-and sharing what they revealed about life and faith.
Kohn also knew suffering personally. Through serious illness, chronic pain, and loss, he developed a deep compassion for others that shaped decades of pastoral ministry and counseling. His years of ministry, illness, sorrow, and encounters with human need deepened his understanding and compassion for people.
His artistic life was equally serious. Kohn's work appeared in numerous publications, he worked professionally as an artist, and his original nature illustrations became an important part of the books he wrote.
