Ken Kousen is a Java Champion, software developer, and international speaker who has spent more than two decades helping engineers build production systems in Java, Groovy, Kotlin, and the Spring Framework. As President of Kousen IT, Inc., he delivers technical training and consulting to engineering teams worldwide. As Professor of Practice in Computer Science at Trinity College in Hartford, CT, he teaches advanced software engineering and runs the Applied AI Center's student-cohort program.
His previous O'Reilly titles include Kotlin Cookbook, Help Your Boss Help You, and Gradle Recipes for Android, among others. His current technical work centers on agentic AI engineering -- including MockHub, a Spring Boot MCP-based platform he built to teach agentic commerce patterns end-to-end. He writes the weekly Tales from the Jar Side newsletter on Substack and runs a YouTube channel of the same name.
