Abraham Bane, a rookie in the Central Defense Agency's Department of Speculative Investigations, has never believed in the existence of Atlas, the underground organization his department is dedicated to exposing and taking down. Juniper Jones, an involuntary member of said organization, is living proof of it. Abe's disbelief in Atlas' existence has never been too big of an issue. In fact, he's never given it much of a second thought at all, until the CDA chief threatens to close his department unless he and his captain can find solid evidence of Atlas' existence by Christmas Eve. His boss' solution to the problem? Kidnapping a rich heiress with access to resources they could use to get the evidence they need in time. Little do they know, by working with Juniper Jones, they've just made an agreement with a member of the very organization they've dedicated their lives to taking down. The Upside-Downside is the first book in a near-future Action/Adventure duology that follows the unlikely alliance of Abraham Bane and Juniper Jones: the disgraced rookie and the criminal heiress.
