The sinful nature of man continued unabatedly. They provoked God every time and His Commandments were broken every time. The gulf between man and God widened but God allowed His Son the Saviour to intervene, and show mankind how to please God, by obedience to the will of God. If we do not surrender completely to God's law, we are like Christians sans Christ, the author points out.
