Story of young girl and her mother who were prisoners of war under the Japanese during WWII. The story recounts their 3 1/2 year separation from family and all things familiar and loved whlle they sought to survive by wits and courage. The story focuses on the depth of the relationship between the two as they eventually came home to freedom.
