Notă biografică
Mary Moore Jacoby and John W. Meffert have worked closely with the staff of the first museum in the nation, The Charleston Museum, to create this rich compendium of a city's past. Ms. Jacoby, an antiquarian and the author of The Churches of Charleston, and Mr. Meffert, president of the Confederation of South Carolina Local Historical Societies and former director of the Preservation Society of Charleston, have produced a volume that speaks to the value that the residents of the city place on their authentic history, their rich family life, the continuity of their architectural heritage, and the whimsical nature of life as it has been lived in this city by the sea.
