Challenge Thinking and Deepen Understanding pushes students to think deeply and differently about text. It requires them to consider an alternative perspective when approaching text and a new purpose for learning its content. As a result, students become more critical readers and thinkers.
I've used several of the strategies from Challenge Thinking and Deepen Understanding with my students. Honoring people's time to read silently totally works.
Challenge Thinking and Deepen Understanding was perfect and I was able to use strategies the very next day with my students.
